Bad, bad people...

I suggest taping the conversation (let them know you are) and request they send you documentation validating the debt they are attempting to collect.  Under no circumstances should you send these people any money - they have proven repeatedly it is a scam.  Keep your cool...

Familiarize yourself with the federal law pertaining to debt collection (http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/fdcpa/fdcpact.htm).  If after speaking with the representative you feel as though they violated the statutes by threatening arrest and/or threatening or actually contacting your employer, contact the Florida Attorney General's office and the Federal Trade Commission (www.ftc.gov).

The Florida Attorney General's office is currently suing the group associated with this phone number (http://myfloridalegal.com/__852562220065EE67. ... bass, associates).  You can file an online complaint at http://myfloridalegal.com/contact.nsf/contact.

Good luck!

Here's more information on "Mr. Jackson":  http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/0/286/RipOff0286781.htm

Don't worry about these crooks. They're not a legitimate debt collection company and they call under many names. Most of the time, they pose as government or law enforcement officials and threaten people with arrest, and they call from many different area codes. Of course, no debt collector has the authority to have anyone arrested for anything. And it's illegal for them to make such threats, as it is illegal for them to impersonate law enforcement officials, officers of the court or attorneys. Check out this 800Notes link regarding calls that these same con men make from another phone number:  http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-480-365-0155

You can report this attempted crime to the FBI online at https://tips.fbi.gov or you can call your local FBI field office. (The FBI field office is in your local phone book or you can locate the number at http://www.fbi.gov/contact/fo/fo.htm )

You can also report this illegal activity to the Federal Trade Commission and your state's attorney general. The FTC accepts complaints online at https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.startup?Z_ORG_CODE=PU01  And the contact info for each state's attorney general is at www.naag.org

If they call again, tell them you've already filed a complaint with federal and state law enforcement. I'm sure that will stop the calls. Good luck.

Called threating to arrest a person (gave the name). Also gave a social security number.  This was not a person working at our company.  He was very threating and rude.  I hung up on him.
