Who called from 2102498819

Annoying fraudulent call. Caller indicated he was with the "California State Business Development Office" and that their office was monitoring every business in the Palo Alto area and needed more detailed business infromation (tried to find out "if we had moved and found a new location", how many people, financials, etc).
I asked their website address. He misspoke and said www.sbdo.com (that presumably stood for "State Business Development Office"
That site is not at all from the State of CA, but is still/currently a chat room / dating site (listed to Super Names([email protected] + 1.3602014967 -- 702 Kentucky, Bham, WA 98227 US).

I got the call supposedly from the Ontario Business Development Office asking about if we were moving,had new location, how many people.  Didnt give them any information, but asked where they were calling from, was told Toronto which i knew was bogus as i have call display and could see the number.  Put them on hold until they (hopefully) died of old age.

I received a similar call from a place calling themselves "State Business Development Office" and "California State Business Development Office".  I am in Vancouver (Canada)!  I didn't take down the number but the call was the same. A woman was on the other end of the line, as was a lot of background noise, and she muffled a lot of words whenever I asked for information about who they were. As if we should have been expecting a call from State Business Development Office or something (hello? Don't you know who we are?).

Same set of questions, asked about our "new location" (though we've been here for over a decade) and when I didn't answer she asked about where we were going to expand, when we were moving, in which other cities we planned to do business, etc.  Then she asked if we were still in Vancouver!  I gave some very vague answers and kept telling her it was hard to understand her because of the noise.  When I asked her about the nature of her call she kept asking questions about the number of people working here, etc.  She finally gave up on trying to get more information.  She was never clear on who they were or why they needed our information.  Very suspicious.

Beware the caller may be collecting info on your business, placing an ad for your business, send you an invoice for big $$$, and threaten to sue if you don't pay up. They will cut up the recorded conversation, splice in the appropriate questions and make it sound like you agreed to place the ad. Many small business owners pay them just to have them go away.

I get calls from this number, a "private number", 000-000-0000 and 1-800-247-4047... and I swear it's the same woman every time!  She phones twice a month, and I'm at the point now where as soon as I hear "Ontario business development office"  I just hang up on oh her without a word.  When the calls first started coming in, these morons claimed they were calling from "Ontario chamber of commerce", which I called, and the exasperated woman (who obviously had a large number of these calls) told me me to ignore them as it's a scam.  Now they've changed their story and by the looks of it, tailor their speech to whomever they are scamming and their location.  The problem is, it's almost impossible to ignore/report them as they call from several number that are usully bogus.  I hope one day they just call the wrong person and end up getting caught!  It's annoying, unneccessary and gettting rather old...
