Same complaint as others - they claim to be from the Treasury Dept, have incriminating evidence, blah blah blah. Accent from India. Says his name is Steve Martin!! It's so funny - they think they can fool us! Not the first time they've called, either. Had another one several months ago. Also get calls claiming "their records show we suffer from diabetes", but I don't even listen long enough to hear what they're selling... same Indian accent.
They are offshore scammers wanting you to go buy a "blue dot" card, which is like a prepaid debit card. They may have "some" information on you which they bought illegally, but you don't have any debt with them. They will say they are with a law firm (changing firm names all the time) and threatened you with jail time, which is BS, because the police will never arrest you for owing money. You have a few choices - (1) If you are gullible enough to fall for their ploy, you will buy a "blue dot" card and call them back and give them the number. They will enter the number into their computer program and drain the card of funds, and you are left with a little plastic card worth nothing. OR . . . (2) you can call them back repeatedly and harrass them. Tell them you have reported them to the FBI and the Consumer Fraud Protection Bureau. Tell them you are recording the call. At least you will waste some of their "valuable" time and you might have some fun in the process!
I got a call from that number and I agree with Ronnie. I filed a report with the Federal Trade Commission who said that if they get enough complaints about this number they would investigate.
Calls over and over all day long. saying they are from a law firm. And there is a lawsuit. So I got sick of him calling and called him back and told him point blank not to call and threaten me. I hung up then had his number blocked
They have been calling my place of work and threating action to be taken at my home. I called back and pretended to be the local police and they hung up and will not answer.
