This is a common ploy by criminals masquerading as debt collectors who are attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this, all for an alleged or nonexistent debt. One of the tricks they use is to call your work place, friends, or relatives repeatedly in an attempt to shame you into paying. They also use the “process server” ruse who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number. Please note that process servers do not ever call ahead. That way you can’t dodge them.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

I received a call from this number & answered it because I have work related contacts in the San Antonio Texas area. No body was on the other end. I looked this number up on whitepages.com & it has been reported as a scam.
I revived a call from this number yesterday morning and no one answered then caller hung up. I then called back and it would ring then line would get disconnected. I called back several times and same thing over and over. Then today at 12pm they called back and no answer. I'm blocking this number.
I also got a phone call from this number, first time they called today no one answered and it hung up, second time I answered, and an automated lady said that they were going to be debiting money out of my account, and even gave me a call back number, but I only caught half of it before it hung up. Said I had an account ending in 0895? Or something like that. Never heard of north center collections before.
This number calls me multiple times a day on my home phone. If my answering machine picks they do not leave a message and if I answer the phone no is there. I would love to stop them from calling me multiple times a day.
This number with the same automated voice saying my account was to be debited on an agreed amount, or press a number to talk to someone about it, which I did, then the lady was like knowing all my personal info, but giving old info where I live and a bank I use to use that the debt came out of, which it did not. But pay now using a debit card to avoid court cost.....blah blah. Tried to call back...the number does not work, immmedidately hangs up.........
