These ppl called me about a loan I'm sure that I must of not paid the man name is Curtis Mason the numbers are 210-774-6157 210-774-6159 he told me by 2pm today if I don't pay a $300 loan off in the amount off $565 I will be going to jail n I will b getting severed papers at my job and they will issue an warrant and take me to jail if I get pulled over the loan company name is highland holdings who also been having a bad rep I been Google all this to see if its a scam I even called my county jail to find out if this even legit far as theme warrant n sheriffs coming to my job these people told me I need yo have all this done by 2pm and by using a debit credit card or money gram I asked for the name of the company all they say is legal services k Google the numbers n some company MCImetro access transmission I also called and had another person to call they said they don't do debt collections I felt in my heart it was bs so I called back to get more info the man Curtis Mason was then up said n said its 2014 they have caller ids n that he knew I had someone call n that I need to handle this matter then he got mad when I asked for the loan name n the case number he hurried an ran the case numbers off idk if its real or not but this loan happen back in 2011 n these ppl took more money then they should out my account n plus why would my state let another state deal with this cus if it was really wouldn't my state of Wisconsin they don't call you about case the mail it to ur home address or have sheriffs send them or an police type person send u the papers
Well, I'm glad I searched this number online and found your post. This number has called me several times and left threatening messages concerning a legal matter that arrived on the desk of "Attorney Mason" I was so confused so I decided to do some research online for anything I can find. Under the Federal FAIR DEBT COLLECTION PRACTICES ACT
False statements. Debt collectors may not lie when they are trying to collect a debt. For example, they may not:
falsely claim that they are attorneys or government representatives;
falsely claim that you have committed a crime;
falsely represent that they operate or work for a credit reporting company;
misrepresent the amount you owe;
indicate that papers they send you are legal forms if they aren't; or
indicate that papers they send to you aren't legal forms if they are.
Debt collectors also are prohibited from saying that:
you will be arrested if you don’t pay your debt;
they’ll seize, garnish, attach, or sell your property or wages unless they are permitted by law to take the action and intend to do so.
You cannot be arrested for ordinary civil debt. Being in debt is not a crime. These people are in violation of the law.
If they continue to bother you, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now. If you can find them.
