I received phone call from this number with a threatening recorded message of "A financial complaint has been issued against your name and your social. I need you to call me back. This is Ted Cameron and my phone number is 800-596-4155. Let me repeat that for you it's 800-596-4155. I expect a call from you. Good day." I have been a victim of phone scams before scaring me to pay money based on bogus complaints. Calling back is usually more upsetting and encourages them to keep calling. Has anyone received a similar call? Do you know who the call is from?

Do not call them back, this appears to be some sort of debt scamming operation. How the devil could a complaint be issued against you or your SSN#? It's a stupid statement in itself. SSNs can't do anything to make anyone complain about anything. Since when do debt collectors handle "complaints"? Public authorities handle complaints.
Just because a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt does not mean you owe it
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:
1. Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2. Demand a debt validation letter by US mail. E-mail no good.
3. Do not pay the collection agent or anyone else a DIME until the debt is validated.
Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply block their calls and ignore them.
If they continue to bother you, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now. If you can find them.
Watch out for these people some of them like to pick on women and single mothers. Also the elderly.
ID themselves as E & W associates. Supposedly in Texas. They say they are debt collectors. She also mumbled something about check recovery, then suddenly stopped herself, so this is almost certainly some sort of debt scamming operation. Some of these scammers just love accusing people of committing check fraud. They also pretend like they are associated with law enforcement in some way. Ignore the calls and block them.
