I got a call from Tom, said he was from pc optimizer gave me the 212- 660- 0146 number to call back. I said I have Norton antivirus protection. He said that will not help. I just hung up. I have had several calls from someone saying they are from Microsoft windows, I just hang up.
Call came in as unknown name unknown number. Referred to association with microsoft windows. Warning me my computer was likely infected and this was a problem that could happen despite use of virus protection. Wanted me to turn on my computer and let them guide me through how to check. I said no as the call was unknown name and number. I was then told I could verify the company by calling 212-660-0146. I directly asked is this a sales call and was told no. I hung up and researched the number and found out this is a company trying to sell PC support services for about $149 a year if I remember the rate correctly. I called the number back and asked to be put on the DNC list and was told OK we will add your name.
Calling from PC Optimizers US. The number he called from is 949-210-9072. He said they are calling all people with Windows OS and want you to scan your computer and he will tell you where the "infections" that affect the root system will ruin your computer. I told him I needed his name & number so I could check it out. Claims his name is Tom Simpson with a very heavy India like accent. He got very rude when I told him my computer is backed up, and kept telling me it would still ruin my computer.....does not want to take NO for an answer!!!
Was told that my windows OS was at risk and that ineeded to disconect from the internet and be walked through a stap by stap way of finding out if it is infected. The call was from a blocked number so i said i needced a number where i could call back and was given this number 212-660-0146. the man had a very strong indian acsent and said his name was Eddie.
