I don't have caller ID on my home phone but caught the number this week when it forwarded to my mobile. The name changes but the voice is the same "East Indian" sounding person. He usually asks for me by name and then says, "I'm calling from technical support on your computer." I have told him to remove me from his call list, hung up, yelled / cussed, asked him what company, asked to speak with his supervisor, laughed, and kept quiet listening to him repeat "hello" four time before he hangs up. He has been calling several times each day this week, often twice in a row if he got voice mail the first time, and has called in the past (seems like every few months). I don't get upset anymore and refuse to give up my power to this baloney, but I will look into reporting to the FCC after reading others' comments. My phone company cannot block because my plan is too old and not digital, so maybe it's time for me to upgrade. In the meantime, I remember coming across a Dave Ramsey show several years ago and him talking about handling collection agencies that don't follow the "do not call me" rule ... he said to get one of those air horns in a can and tell the caller that the next time they call you will blow out their ear drum. Sounds like a good idea for this one, too :-)
Just had a call from someone who spoke in broken English & told me he was calling from Microsoft. When I told him Microsoft did not call Customers, he said he was calling from Windows. Who the hell does he think owns Windows?
The guy just called me and told me he was calling from Windows and that he was receiving a critical error from my computer...that it was being logged into a World Wide system computer. He said that he had some easy steps that he needed for me to do on the keyboard. I asked him what type of error it was that he was receiving so that I could discuss it with our IT department. He said "never mind" and then hung up on me.
I to just got a call saying the same as what Daisy reported. I told him he was full of sh*t. I asked him if he was talking about my PC. He said yes....windows. I then again told him he was full of sh*t, that I have a Mac. He told me I was bullish*t and hung up on me. I have been getting calls from this number for a week now, and every time I tried to answer, no one was there. Today is the first time I was able to talk to someone.
I had this same issue with this same number calling - this is a very scarey bit of information when he said my computer is transmitting messages to them that my computer has a virus.
Some indian guy called me the same BS about my computer sending them error messages. I told him how stupid this was cause I don't have a computer. I asked him to take my name and number off their list. He said. And I quote "I keep calling you."I several times. Then hung up. Can anyone tell me where this call center is so I can burn the building down? [***] these people.
