I recently read that about 5 years ago 70 to 80% of the businesses complied with the "Do not call" (DNC) law. Now, because there is so little enforcement of the law, those same percentages don't even consider the DNC law when making telemarketing calls. It has now become just another of the many wasteful government programs. Thank god (not the government) for call blocking and caller i.d.
Worst part about the so-called Do Not Call List for businesses is that some of the cold-callers will just send sales people out to your business to harass you in person now. They'll even say that they notice we are on the "do not call list" so they didn't call - instead they just show up without an appointment to try and sell you on their proposal. Gee, thanks for the favor. Dumb and dumber!
All of the information regarding how to block calls, or what government agency sucks, it would also be helpful if more of you actually commented on who this particular in-coming call is from -- someone said verizon; somebody else said time share (or whatever). As I understand it, that is the main purpose of this site -- to identify who the caller is so we can determine whether we cant to answer or not (usually). I understand the way scammers work and all the other ancillary information provided, but to help me determine if it IS a scammer, it helps if such information is reported. Thanks
I totally agree with Larry. I check out this number to see who is calling and nobody says who it is. It's basically a discussion board to air grievances or discuss call blocking. My wife keeps getting calls from this number on her cell phone but ignores them because of the 213 area code. (L.A.) But it would be nice to find out who was doing the calling here. Next time my wife will actually answer the call just so I can post the caller here.
