This is a localized number an outfit named IAC Collections uses. They use local numbers but ask you to respond to their 800-248- ????. They are a third or lower tier collection company that buys old debt claims that may or may not be legit. They then threaten the people they reach with "pending litigation". When people ask for verification of their claim they never provide but just continue to harass. If they were legit they would send a written letter with verification so that folks could properly respond to it. It you get a call from these folks you're best off not responding to their call. They are trying to get around the law relating to written collection correspondence. If they are serious they will send a letter at which time you can send them a check, a copy of the paid bill, or a cease and desist letter.

Got a threatening message from Miranda Banks today 1/3/14 and told me to call 866-775-6557 or documents will be sent to my last known employer. My cell actually registered the actual phone number as 213-261-0320.
Thanks to Google and now I know who this caller was a collection agency trying to bully, intimidate and threaten people.
