This number is a fraud. They called my home twice and tried to imply that they are my credit card company. They said that "due to my good payment history" they were making me a "special offer". When I challenged them to name my credit card company they could not and then the phone went fuzzy and hung up. Whatever you do, do NOT provide these people with your information. It is a scam or a prank but it is definitely not legitimate. I traced the number and it is a Majic Jack number. I am contemplating filing a complaint against Majic Jack with the oversight bodies in Canada for telecommunication industry as this whole Majic Jack thing with area codes and phone numbers that are untraceable is facilitating fraud.
I just got a call from them just now.He basically said the same thing, to lower my credit card interest to 2.99 from 19.99, first of, my interest rate is way lower than 19.99. He said they are working for the government and is asking me to get to write down his company information before he can take action on lowering my credit card interest rate. I asked if he know where my financial institution is and can't answer that either! I just said, NO YOU ARE NOT TO WORK ON MY BEHALF! and he hang up the phone without saying anything.
