I received a call today from some with very broken english stating they were calling from First State Attorney law firm. I was told that they would be picking me up on Monday to take me to court. As a pressed them further they would pass me off to someone else with the same broken english. I called the police, FBI, Attorney General and Federal Trade Commission, all were great. The number they scammer gave me was 213-286-0298 so beware.
This idiot calls me with a different name each time this time its Raymond something always from 0000 but they leave a number. He's very annoying and I'm reporting them to the better business bureau but they can't find anything on whoever their company is supposed to be.
I received a call on my cell a couple of weeks ago and a woman was practically screaming and I could only make out a few words. She said something about an attorney, call them immediately, and something about if I didn't then all she could do is pray for me. I could not make out the number to call back, and it was 0000 on my caller ID.
Today, I received another call from another Indian person, this time a man. He said he was with First State Attorney Office and they were the back office of the law firm. He tried to tell me that I had defaulted on a payday loan from a company I didn't work with. I have had a payday loan in the past, but I always use the same one. I do not owe anything at all. I told him this. He gave me the last 4 of my social, and who my bank account was with, so he clearly has gotten my info somewhere. I did not give him permission to do anything at all. I asked him to give me the actual name of the website I supposedly went to, and he said there are over 3000 and he doesn't have the authority to tell me which name they were using. I asked for someone who could give me the dates, amount, company, and copies of the documents. He put me on with his supervisor, who was also Indian. I asked why the attorney office would only hire Indians and he said they were law students. I told him I wanted the proof of this debt, and that if I had gotten the loan, it would show up in my bank statement as a direct deposit, so I would be able to prove I didn't get one. He said I could call 1-213-286-0298 and an officer of the company could possibly provide me with the info I wanted. I told them that I was looking at this website now, and I was aware this is a scam and he continued to try and push himself off as part of a law firm. I told him after I get the info I need, I will give it to my attorney and let them deal with it. I will be notifying all appropriate agencies tomorrow morning.
same people calling me repeatedly at home and work, saying the same things. calling from 213 286 0298 and from 253 242 8924. does anyone know where they are located? i believe this guy calls himself ivan.
After posting a few minutes ago, I just called them from my same number after doing *67 to block my number. When they answered, I asked who it was. He asked me to give him my name. I refused. I told him they had called me and left this number, and I wanted to know who they were. He asked me several times who I was. I told him I wanted to know what the company was he works for. He told me to give him my name first. He started to speak slowly, as though I didn't understand and asked me if I had my name. I told him that yes, I did, but he wasn't getting it.
It was kind of fun because they apparently don't like it when they don't know who they are talking to and are not in control of the call. This was an experiment to see if they had a way to "see" us if we blocked the number.
