This number stated they were social security and even argued on the phone with me. They were very rude then when I told them it was fraud they acted as if they couldnt speak English!
When I called the number back they identified themselves as the IRS. I asked them for their D.C. address and he couldn't come up with it. The person who answered was a male with an Indian accent.
I received a call from 213-289-3772 on my Cell, but they hung up after one ring. I called that number back using my office phone, and was told it was the IRS and that I owed $6,800 in back taxes from 1998- 2003. That if I didn't pay off my delinquent taxes, they would size my home, my Credit Cards, my Passport, my Bank Accounts and I would be facing a 5 years prison term. They told me that I could avoid all this by entering into a monthly payment plan, but I had to make a good faith payment NOW. I had 45 mins to make this payment, or the police would be at my door. This scare the Be-Jesus out of me, but I also couldn't understand how all this could be legit. I google searched the Tel # and found THIS site and also contacted the local Police, who confirmed that it is a new Scam that is going around. they suggested that I simply hang up. I was so angry that I confronted the caller. He actually admitted that he was a Scammer from Saudi Arabia. He claims that they are so poor, that THIS is how they must earn their income. That America will soon be bankrupt and that there is no way possible to trace his call. If all this wasn't enough to spin my head, what happened next surely did. He asked me if I had any telephone # of other people that he could scam. SERIOUSLY !!!! I gave him another piece of my mind and told him to go #$%$ himself and his family. He probably has more money than GOD. BE CAREFUL !!!!1 DON'T GIVE OUT ANY OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION.
