I also got a call from this number. I called back and could not get anyone who spoke decent English. The IRS does not work like this so 99.9% sure it is a scam.
I got the same number called me and left a voicemail on my cell to call them back, when I did, I got busy signals, then I got guys who spoke with heavy accents, with background noise that sounded like telemarketing people talking, and the call kept getting dropped, so I called back, until they told me I Had a case number from IRS against me that I owed money $1K, on my tax returned (I am on SSI, don't work or file tax returns), so they told me I would not need to pay and forget about the call, call ended then! What kind of scam is this? They asked for my name, and they have my cell number! Hmmm? Anyone know what is this for??? =Judy=
It's a scam where they impersonate IRS and tell you that terrible things are going to happen to you beause of some error on your income taxes. However, they can make the whole thing go away if you just wire them some money by untraceable means. That's about it. Been going around for years now. Ignore and block. For some reason they are using 213 area codes now.
This is a scam message that has been going around for a couple months now from various phone numbers. Do not call it back. The IRS has warned that they do not make these calls and instead if they need to get a hold of you then they will do it via postal mail.
