Guess what! GiGi: The message I received from 213-291-2361 mentioned nothing regarding "being sued for tax fraud" instead the message I received was very ambiguous. I too have received several scam calls concerning being sued by the IRS, but these calls were from different telephone numbers (for example: 347-252-3827, 510-509-5824 & 213-610-1302) not 213-291-2361.
Received the same type call as detailed above by others. Lousy synthesized voice recording wishing me good luck as this situation unfolds before me or words to that effect.
I received the same above phone call. I returned the call and a soft spoken woman with an Indian or other accent answered. I tried to obtain information but lost my cool. I informed her that I am an IRS Revenue Agent (I really am) and that what she is doing is illegal and punishable with up to five years in jail. She seemed totally unconcerned so I cussed her out and told her she had better stop what she is doing immediately. Everyone, the IRS will never cold call you. You will receive a letter and asked to respond to it. When agents answer your call they will identify themselves. You can ask to speak to their supervisor or someone in charge and they have to accommodate your request. IRS agents will always vet you by requesting personal identifiable information before providing you with any taxpayer information. Please be calm and courteous at all times, we are only doing our jobs. Remember it is Congress that passes the tax laws not the IRS. The IRS only enforces the law and our mission is to ensure that the tax law is followed by all taxpayers.
