Good ol' Mike has been calling for days. His problem is that I work at a federal agency and he is asking for a guy who worked here years ago. Number switches between this one and an Atlanta area code.
I've reported it to security but think next time I'm going to tell him that he has violated national security and the NSA is tracking his calls as a potential drone target.
I received 2 phone calls from 213-401-2805 yesterday. It was someone named Mike Johnson, claiming to be from the legal affairs department of the US Treasury. He said that the US Treasury was going to take legal action against me. What gave it away as a scam is that: 1. He ended the voice message with saying that I could be a 'legal mess for you' if I didn't call him back. (No one that is in any agency of the government would use this kind of speech.) 2. It sounded like he was reading from the kind of script that most telemarketing companies use. 3. Any agency of the government will only contact you with a letter of intent, Not a phone call, email, or text message.
Received two calls from a young girl with Indian accent posing as an IRS representative telling me there is a legal action against me from the treasury department. When asked what her agent # and supervisors name "David", she was prepared and gave that quickly to me. I told her that I would call back and speak to him as I believe this is a scam and was not going to speak with her.
Same thing with me called 6 times and left a voice mail and when I called back a man answered and expressed to me wanted the address of where I was to have the authorities come arrest me for IRS taxes. Told him he was a fake and he hung up on me.
Same 'legal department U.S. Treasury' script from an Indian English male voice. The voice sounds almost like a robot. First call rolled over to answer with a hang-up, second immediate followup call went to voice mail. Conclusion of message was to call back with "retained attorney do it for you" and go on with the tone-deaf threat of a "legal mess".
