I received a call from a woman saying she was from Dish Network wanting some info on how my TV was working. Wanted some numbers from the tv She said to click on menu for the info. I gave her some numbers she ask for, then I was a little concerned about the call. I called Dish network they said it was a scam they did not call. And that I should report it to the Police Dept. It was from 213-233-9477.
Report them to the FTC and watch your billing from Dish too. I never heard of this kind of scam. If there is any activity on your account like movies your did not order or channels call Dish back.
This scam is back. Happened to my family yesterday. Called stating he was from dish and needed the receiver numbers to verify the equipment was compatible with the 107 satellite. Dish does not use that particular satellite. My mom gave the info and the dish account info. I overheard this and had her hang up immediately. By the time I got through to Dish this person had already changed the account security pin and had purchased a new receiver to be delivered to his address. Everything was stopped and all charges reversed. As mentioned, Dish does not call for account information, other than an automated call, if you should be behind on your account, per the rep I spoke with yesterday.
