Clearly a scam. Caller left a message on the answering machine, claiming to be "Steve Robinson" from "The Department of Legal Affairs"; sounded male, perhaps 30 years old, strong Hispanic accent. I called back and the person identified themselves the same way. When asked, said it was part of the "US Department of the Treasury", and said he was calling about the legal action that had been started against me. Said "So you state you never received the form CR-8371 from the court?" (not sure of the form number), which neither he nor I had mentioned previously. I asked what office he was working out of, he stammered for a few seconds and then said "California, ... the main office". I asked him for his serial number, he said "49267". He then hung up on me, apparently discouraged to be asked questions.
