Mortgage Applicant
Guy with Indian accent called saying he was from Equifax. He said he wanted to verify information for a mortgage application. However, the info he wanted was already provided to the bank. Also my loan officer always tells me what they need before he sends requests out. My loan officer and loan processors knew nothing about this so called request to Equifax, because they already had all of the information. Some how these people in India are getting people's phone numbers and trying to extract personal information from them. Maybe they hacked the bank or Equifax itself, or they purchased my info my Equifax, but could only purchase my name, number, and the fact that I was trying to get a mortgage. So, they call to see if they can get me to give up enough information for them to rob me blind.

The problem here is that you could be right.  But with all the hacking and stolen information, anything filled out online is subject to be stolen.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.
