"Microsoft" security scam: Reports my computer is infected.
My brother is in hospital in area code 213, so I picked up despite my better judgement.
These criminals need to be badly punished.
These guys have called before, and I recognized this scam. When the perpetrator asked in his broken eastern Indian accent "your Microsoft computer...." I simply retorted, "I have an Apple." he hung up. What a bunch of maroons.
Male caller with Indian accent stated he worked for Microsoft and that my computer had been sending error messages. He asked me if I knew that and I went along with this, know it was a scam. When I asked "what should I do", he happily advised me to press the CTRL button and "R" at the same time. I asked him what that would and he kept insisting I should do it so he could get some number from me. When I said I didn't want to do it unless I knew what would happen, he got angry. I told him I was on to his scam and he said he didn't believe me and that when I bought the computer, it was automatically registered to Microsoft. I called him a thief and a crook and he called me a liar. Gotta give him credit because he was still trying to convince me it was all legit until I finally hung up on him. Next time I'm going with the "I have a MAC"!
Called said he was with Windows. I demanded but he refused to remove me from his list and refused to not call me again. He called me back when I hung up on him and said he was calling from Dominos.
