Called saying they are from Microsoft Technical Support and wanted to know about my computer. In other words, it was a phishing expedition for passwords.
On 11/12/2014, I received two calls from 500-117-2152 and a call from 100-117-2152. I also received four restricted calls. I didn't answer any of them except the last restricted call. It was a man with very poor English. He asked for me by name. I immediately hung up.I also received a call from 213-622-9999. These were all on my cell phone.
I thought it strange that I would receive that many calls in one day. I also receive these types of calls on my landline phone. Both phones have been registered on the do not call registry. I went on line and verified their registration.
They called my old number where I lived off and on for some time. They tried to act like they were going to serve me with papers regarding a court case or some legal matter and told the person they were speaking to that they "wanted to make sure I was home" obviously fishing for information. The answering party (the receiver) told them exactly opposite of what they were trying to find out in order to protect my personal information. Is it any of their business if James will be home and when and if he lives at a certain residence or did or when?? No, it's not and the receiver did what they should have done which is protect my business from unwanted search or poking around..... The fact is and this should be noted for all whom get calls , any number that has a large number of complaints and is VIOP based canteen be used by any other faction or entity to try and throw the receiver/ call recipient off and this is becoming a common tactic used by all types of groups,scammers and others as well!! Just a heads up!!
