called to say i had placed an order, which i had not, someone had tried to fraudulently use my card and it was stopped and declined, they asked for another credit card number to complete the transaction - they said they were from call of nature and were seeking a $5.95 trial fee.
I caught a transaction on my account last week for a pre-authorization for APL*ITUNES. I immediately called and canceled my card, as I had not made the purchase. Upon doing research I found that there is a scam out there (http://consumerist.com/2009/05/watch-out-for- ... unt-or-not.html) that has been ongoing for more than a year.
Today, I received a call from 213-725-5234 that I picked up from voice mail. The message stated she was Sara with acaiberryblast.com call back number 819-483-0467. She stated I had put in an order and the charge was declined. (No, I did not order it) The interesting fact to me, is that not only had they used my credit card, they used my cell number (which btw is NOT the phone number attached to my credit card)
PLEASE, keep an eye on your debit /credit cards & Bank accounts. It's amazing what people will try! Now, if only we can find a way to stop them! I was lucky, I check my account daily. Catching the first charge in pre-auth, allowed me to cancel the card before any of the other charges made it to my account.
