This is it! I just started getting calls from this number today - a whole bunch to my cell AND home phone - never leaving a message. At first I figured telemarketing - but then when I saw I was getting them on both phones throughout the whole day - I began to get worried - like maybe there IS someone I know in LA who was reaching out to me for help or something - and me never answering... But a quick search of the number lead me here and all is explained: I realized that - just yesterday - I DIDN'T order cigarettes from DutyFreeDepot - had just looked at it - and now am getting these calls. At least it's good to know that I'm not a bad friend - but how did they get BOTH my cell and land line numbers?
I just received calls from this number on all three of my phone numbers -- my cell. home and Google Voice numbers. My cell and home phone are tied to the Google Voice phone number. So if you have a Google Voice number and have both home and cell tied to it, they may be calling you through that phone number. My caller IDs showed that the phone calls came from the 213 number AND through my Google Voice number, so they have either hijacked my GV number or they have called all three numbers. I am not sure which, because my GV #should not have shown on any caller ID, unless they were calling FROM the online system. I plan to contact Google to notify them, however. Hope this info helps you.
It's illegal to get cigarettes from outside the US now anyway unless you bring them in with you. After June 2010 Obama passed allow that UPS and FEDEX are banned from delivering them.

To answer the question how those people get your phone number - phone numbers are traded and telemarketers by a good chunk of money to get those lists.
Don't think that your phone provider keeps it confidential.
