Everyone knows Google maps updates often. Google is located in CA. I called the number back and got a recording that the number is not for inbound calls and to go to www.google.com/places. EVERYONE outsources these days and you're all "nervous" that it was a foreign accent??? LOL.
Google NEVER calls you to verify or update your information. If they are going to contact you, they will do so online via email. The person that calls is trying to scam you out of your listing or to update their lists to sell to other companies.
I just received the same phone call and he seemed to give me bogus information. Said the same thing as what everyone eles said. He's looking to verify. He called once before. Told me to go to sites.google.com/support . I just logged in. I hope this wasn't a phing site where they just got my information. I'm changing password now.
