I am sick and tired of these messages from different phone numbers. I have been getting these for months. I have reported the numbers to the IRS. I once called back the number and spoke with an Officer David and said, "That is not how we do it in the United States. We get a notice in the mail." His response, " The notice had been returned due to a wrong address." I told this person I would call the IRS myself. Told him to stop. They do not and keep changing the phone number. I am so tired of this. It has to stop, somehow. Have no idea how. This is the truth and it just has to stop.
Female voiced robot caller from 213-793-6771 originating in Los Angeles, CA called at 8:54am CST on Sept. 23, 2016, and left the following voice mail on my cell phone.
"Hello. This call is a (sic) official final notice from IRS. Internal Revenue Service. The reason of this call is to inform you that the IRS is filing (sic) law suit against you. To get more information about this case file, please call immediately on our department number 213-793-6771. I repeat 213-793-6771. Thank you.”
First clue this is a scam: The IRS would send an official governmental letter and not a telephone call. They have to keep records of all personal contacts, i.e. via the US Postal Service.
Second clue this is a scam: This letter would originate from the district you live in. Example: Persons residing in Texas would not be contacted by a California IRS office; it would be the IRS office in Austin.
Third clue this is a scam: The immediacy or urgency of the call: “…please call immediately on our department number 213-793-6771…..”. These scammers do not want you to have time to think. High pressure and intimidation are what they want to get YOUR MONEY AWAY FROM YOU! Stop and think.
Fourth clue this is a scam: The IRS would recommend that you obtain advice from your tax attorney or accountant, and they would notify you of what information they require from you so that you can prepare your case prior to meeting with the IRS in person. This is not done over the phone.
Unfortunately many senior citizens fall for this scam every day, with these scammers stealing their life savings away.
It is time for the laws to be changed. First offence of this type of scam: “The Firing Squad.” Mike McC. Sugar Land, TX
I received this call on my unpublished company cell phone, I returned the call and got someone who said they were from the IRS and they were filing a lawsuit against me , I have no problems with the IRS they asked for my name and I refused to give them my name he said I can't help you if you don't give me your name
Same call to me in Florida as well. Automated message said I was being sued by IRS. Called the number back to have some fun with them. It's a pure scam.
