Received a call from this number, called back and got a recording identifying it as The Fundraising Center. I assume a cold call, paid solicitor operation.
Some live operator calling about a breast cancer charity.
Most of these border on being scams -- after paying their "executives" exorbitant salaries, the amount of money actually returned to the charity is a tiny fraction of what they take in.
Don't know this one, didn't bother to write down name and check them out. If I feel like contributing, I'll choose the charity myself, not respond to a cold call.
I was called with the same "rap." When I tried to interject a few words, the caller "steamrolled me." I hung up on them.
Having worked for the Premier Fundraising Company in the United States (Conservation, Social Action and Political Actions Organizations) which shall remain anonymous here, I can verbatim tell you that these people are complete hacks.
If it is NOT a scam, it's whatever is second place.
