He did not call but used texting. He said his name was Chris Murphy and that he was currently at sea. Offered 50 more than the asking price and said he'd send extra for a third party "movers" fee. Thank you for reporting this. We caught it in time to not get scammed and hopefully get him busted. We confirmed his purchaser haven't received his check yet. When we do, we will turn it in and report him to the police.
Cashier check fraud. Craigslist buyer offers to pay by check, asks for address. Offers over $50 extra over price. "Movers" will pick item up. Check written for larger amount, with instructions to pay/send excess to third party. Check may clear when cashed, but later reverts no funds and acceptee penalized. Possible stolen check operation.
