Did not answer this call. A few months ago, male with an accent had called about a problem with my computer & I almost fell for it. I am a Senior & not too computer literate with a new computer I set up myself. Figured I did something wrong. Anyway, it is a scam to get you to pay them like $500 to fix your computer. They have called since using different number. I cut them off by telling him what he wanted before he could tell me. He hung up. Now, I screen all calls.
I missed the call.
Caller I.D. said: L A CTY M T A
(Note the wide spacing between L A and M T A, but not between CTY.)
I figured, considering that I haven't even been to L.A. since 1991 and NEVER have taken any public transportation in L.A., it was either a mistake or a bogus/spoof/prank caller.
So, I'm sure that the call wasn't intended to collect any delinquent fares.
(Do they even let people onboard without first collecting full fares?)
I don't live in California, and as mentioned, haven't been there since 1991.
After reading the above comments, I'm sure it was a scammer with a new-found way to fool some people into answering their bogus call.
I just got a call. Some nice fellow trying to fix my computer. He loaded some program on my computer and now it is working just fine. Said that the company would be checking my computer from time to time and not to worry about it. Said that he was going to check my info store on my computer too. Wow. I am so lucky he called!!
