just got a call from this number claiming to be from Microsoft, telling me that they have been receiving critical error reports from my computer. I asked the guy (who conveniently had a foreign accent) which computer was giving the errors because we have 3 of them, he said the messages were coming from all three. I told him he was full of sh*t and hung up. Less than 5 seconds later they called back to which I promptly picked up the phone and hung it right back up without talking. This is the second day in a row that I have been contacted by these scammers and I don't know how to make them stop. My husband was told by someone at his job that the next time we get a call from these "people" I should tell them we own Apple computers and see what their reaction is. I've also noticed that there is a delay between my response and an echo, so I hear what I say a couple of seconds after I've said it.
The sad thing is that likely these Indian scammers KNOW you have a Windows machine because they once legitimately worked for a call center under contract to provide support or registration for Microsoft products and have harvested the database. They then try to use the information they have to rob people. If you are bored with nothing to do, toy with them for a while...it might save someone else from being robbed if the scammers are busy with you.
Caller said they were with windows support and there were errors with my windows operating system. Called twice today once when I was not home. And then at 6:45 PM Central. I told them that they better quit calling me and there was nothing wrong with my computer. Also told them I Googled the number and found out that it was a scam,they hung up after that.
This is twice this week for them, and they are definitely not from America, with very thick hard to understand language. I wish I could report them to the FBI!!!
I keep getting calls from them too. I told them I don't even have a computer......he said really? I sad really! I told them not to call me again and he told me to go to hell! This really needs to stop!
some guy who I can hardly understand called and said he was from Microsoft. The problem is that I did get a Notification of an undeliverable e-mail after e-mailing a friend who I often e-mail.?????? why is that? the call came right after the notification.
