Consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so. If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number. For tracfone & straight talk:

http://www.youmail.com/home/carriers/straight-talk/block-number
https://www.straighttalkwirelessforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=6803&t=55006

For text messages: forwarding any text message spam you get to the short code  “7726,” which spells “spam” on most phones, to alert your network operator to the abuse. ATT won't accept 7726 But they will accept BLOCK and return a message that the web site is blocked. forward the texts to 7726 or BLOCK, depending on your phone carrier.

Ha. You people sit there and just give out the lamest advice. Getting a call blocking service does not do anything either. They just keep changing their numbers and call right back with a new one. It's called "spoofing" wich is supposed to be illegal around the world. Obviously the Governments are not doing s.h.i.t. about it anyway. They don't give a crap.

Ha yourself, what do you think LE is gonna do about it? Not a thing!  Funny but I can block area codes, don't get through , hardly get any spam calls at all now.  And I am well aware of what spoofing is!  And since when have criminals ever obeyed laws?

So, if they do not do anything, maybe you want to explain these?

The government is not the problem. Criminals and clods are the problem.

Any one scammer will stop calling your number after you stop talking to them, call after call, because they are not making any money off of you, and if you don't talk to them, they don't get an attitude that they have to get revenge on you in some way. You have to give them the silent treatment and ignore them. My suggestion is when you answer the phone for any call, say nothing, wait for the caller to announce themselves. Robocallers will hang up after a few seconds, unless they have an automatic outgoing message. Direct-calling scammers will ask for you or some other name. Do not respond. Just wait. After several seconds, they will hang up.

There are hundreds of scammers out there trying to trick people into giving them money, so you have to give them all the silent treatment. Wait for them to announce themselves.

You also have to train your relatives, friends, and business associates to announce themselves. It's your phone they are calling, you make the rules.

When you call people, you will have to announce yourself too, so in that way you train other people to announce themselves.

Call blocking is all you really have at the present time.  You could try not picking up on call numbers you do not narcotize.  These calls usually originate in India and Pakistan and there isn't much anyone can do about it at the present time. There have been a few arrests of the scammer's agents in the US.  But---for the time being--just keep on rockin' and blockin'.
