Scam company posing as process servers but then offer for me to pay a loan I don't owe so they don't come "embarrass me at work". Pretty sure someone trying to serve you wouldn't call first. Told them to serve me because I don't owe them, and would win in court.

CHanging your number will not help.
Your "new" number would be somebody else's "old" number ... and who knows what kind of calls THEY got!

Modern technology has given telescammers the tools to call you.
Since those telescammers are criminals, they ignore both the Do Not Call list and any request you might make.

Modern technology can also protect you, if YOU do a few simple things!
The most effective thing to do is to get a call blocking device, service or app.
Then, use it correctly.

Google "call blocker" for more information.  There are available apps (some free) for smart phones, and services and devices for landlines.

If you cannot use or afford such a tool, then:

• Do not answer calls from unknown numbers ... let them go to voicemail or answering service.  Telespammers usually hang up after 3 or 4 rings.

• Do NOT return calls from unknown numbers!  All that does is verify your phone number!  And, in some cases, those return calls may cost $20 or more to complete. If the incoming call was important, they would have left a message!

• If you have a "dumb" cell phone, assign the scammer's number to a group named "scam" (or similar).  Then, assign a silent ringtone to that group. (This also works for smartphones).

• Another option, for cell phones:  Assign a "silent ringtone" as DEFAULT.  Then, assign your favorite ringtones to all known friends / family / business numbers.  That way, you will hear rings ONLY from those you wish to contact!  You will not hear scammers' rings, even if they change their number!  (This is also called "whitelisting", and will cause you to miss calls from non-whitelisted numbers).

If you want to report potential fraudulent or scam calls, here are two pages of links to (mostly government) sites in Canada and the USA were you can report those scams, or learn more about them.

Got a call from these jokers.  Listened to the voice mail, which I have a copy of in my email.  They say that they are from United Courier.  Hmmm, I looked up United Courier and they are in Cincinnati so why are they calling me with a number from Dallas 214-254-4218.  I wonder what United Courier would say about someone using their name to collect money from people?  I'll never call them back, they can serve me, then I'll have the chance to defent myself rather than giving them a credit card number.  These people purchased a work from home system or purchased a bunch of them and employ a bunch of people to call people on lists that are not even verified.  I got a call once for a payday loan that I did take out 10 years ago and was discharged in a bankruptcy.  When I told them about it they said I they didn't believe me and I better pay up or face criminal charges.  I told them it would be the other way around and to show up.  They never did.  These people will never show up either.
