Received notification from Texas number about card suspension, stated to call number provided to reactivate. Activity suspicious considering the fact that I have never used the financial institution, as well as the fact that the text came not from a 1800 number, nor the state in which the institution was based (Mississippi), but rather from a Texas number.
Upon checking the financial institutions website, I discovered that a string of scams have been in effect that targets individuals based on cell numbers.
Financial institutions will never contact customers via cell phones.
