No need to do that, and I would certainly check to see if that "service fee" is legal.
it is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and that they have the legal right to collect it. You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid (this includes student loans). They are required to follow FDCPA laws as well, which means that the next thing they should do is:
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
You should then send them a certified, return receipt debt validation letter. Remember that they are encouraged to get you to pay over $150 a month as they then get the commission on the total amount of the loan. Anything less than that, they only get the commission on the actual amount of the payment.

I keep receiving calls from this number. I don't answer it because I have no idea who it is. I finally called the number back this evening. A "lady" by the name of Kenishia Greene answered, claimed to know who I was immediately, and kept trying to get me to confirm that the four numbers she was reading off to me were the last four of my social. I kept asking who she was with and that I would not confirm anything until I know who she was with and why she was calling. All kept doing was saying that it was in regard to "my schoolin'"...kept saying that over and over again - she would never tell me what company she was with.

I just received a call at my place of business. My co worker answered the phone since I was away from my desk and this "lady" was very persistent. Since I was not available the "first" time she called she wanted to talk to my H.R. Department and when no one answered that call she called right back. Then she wanted our Corporate office phone number but my co-worker wouldn't give it to her so in the end the "lady" sat on hold for at least 5 minutes until I returned from my break. When she finally got me she wouldn't tell me who she was with or why she needed to speak with me but wanted to confirm the last four of my ssn was **** and I said it wasn't. Then she wanted to go back to H.R. and I told her if no one answered she'd have to leave a message and she said she would do that. So.......who are these people and where are they getting their information? I could understand if they called my home number but my office number?????
