This number called claiming that I had almost 2000 in collections and was going to be taken to court unless I paid. Didnt even use my legal last name; called me by my maiden name. When I said the phone call was recording they hung up. When I called back a different voice answered and identified themselves as the "processing center" and when I asked for what company, the man said "look I cant help you with your number blocked" and hung up on me!
This guy keeps calling and threatening that I will be sued if I don't return his calls. I think what he's doing is illegal. They have to state the disclaimer that they are a debt collector, etc etc
A phone call, email or text message from a supposed debt collector is not legally sufficient evidence of debt.
The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) includes statements such as this:
* Every collector must send you a written “validation notice” telling you how much money you owe within five days after they first contact you. This notice also must include the name of the creditor to whom you owe the money, and how to proceed if you don’t think you owe the money. ["Written" means snailmailed ... not emailed or texted]
Therefore, if that caller wants you to pay immediately, before you get the written validation notice via snailmail, or if the caller wants payment via green dot, Western Union, or other untraceable means, then the call is definitely not legitimate.

I got a call from this number a while back. A guy called mr rasmussen said he has a file complaint in his office and need to pay the debt. I asked him to send me written information regarding the debt and he said he won't.I received email saying I agreed to pay the debt and need to pay it on the same day. I did not respond. I got another voicemail stating if I don't call them and pay them the agreed amount they will release my file to their attorney. After a month I got a voicemail again saying they would like me to take advantage of their offer and call them by 6 pm or else they will make decision on my behalf. Wtf are these people doing!!!
Yesterday (10/29/2014) I received a call from 'Mr. Rasmus' from this number. He left a vm asking me or my attorney to call back by 6:00 pm. He said their attorney would be on hand but they need to have my file released and he gave me a case number. He did not give me the name of his company or the company they represent. There was another number on my caller ID that did not leave a message 214-380-2003. These calls were on my home phone a little after 9:00 am.
At 11:00 am the receptionist at my job got 2 phone calls from the same guy with a similar message 'Have her or her attorney call back'. After much prodding, the caller identified his company as 'Commercial Recovery Systems.' (CRS) The receptionist told him not to call back and he got very rude with her and said he'll definitely call back any time he wants to.
He's already called my work number twice today (it's 9:30am as I write) asking for my address. The receptionist refused to forward his call or to give him any information about me and told him again not to call again. He said there was an investigation in progress and she has to answer questions. He asked for her name and title. She refused to answer all questions. We're going to talk to our tech guy at work. He can put call blocking in place for these numbers.
For the record, I have some bad debt from a bad time in my life in 2007-2008. In Illinois I am well past the 5-year statute of limitations for credit card debt.

On day 2 (10/30/2014) my brother got a call from these people asking how to contact me. We've lived in different states for decades so I'm not sure how they made the connection between us. We do have the same last name. I advised him to ignore the calls or block them as I have. They implied to my brother that it was a legal matter about real estate.
This is day 3 now. I checked my credit report and there is an inquiry by them on my report. I noted the address, but I decided not to contact them unless and until I get something in writing from them.
