A Karen Harper from Johnson and Johnson Remediation (214) 396-5170 called me on January 17, 2014 about a check she said I wrote off of Chase P Morgan bank in 2008 while I lived in Texas. I now reside in Louisiana. She gave me a case number and a phone number for a Complaint Division (912-721-7894). She stated the check was paid to Ace Cash Express and I owe around $786.00. She stated a warrant was being sent out for my arrest around 5:00 p.m. but she cleared me long enough to pay half to avoid being arrested. . She told me to send a Money Gram in requested amount and since she will be in a conference call at 4:00 p.m. and did not know how long the meeting will be that I should leave the Money Gram Receipt number on her voice mail. I felt this was a scam and I am glad I did my research.
It's a scam. Debt is civil, not criminal, so even if you did default on a loan, you are not going to be arrested. Per the FDCPA, you should not pay any caller who refuses to MAIL - do not accept email or fax - a debt validation letter showing that you do owe a debt and that your caller has the legal right to collect said debt. Refusal to mail this DV letter within five days of their first call is a violation of federal law. More here:

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.
According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.
The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

Marilyn Gordon with (not audible). She said that it was a good thing I called because she was about to process my warrant and now she won't need to. I asked her why I would have a warrant in Texas, when I've never been there? She said she was not in Texas. I asked why her area code was from Texas and she said, "You know what? Just disregard this call and Good Luck!" CLICK She hung up on me for asking questions. I still don't know the name of her crooked company, and she wanted me to answer personal questions? Ridiculous. I hope they go down big time!
She called me several times last year too with threats of me going to jail for "Check Fraud" through Chase bank. I asked her what she meant by check fraud, and she said that I wrote a bad check through my Chase account. I have NEVER EVEr in my Entire life...EVER banked with Chase - HA HA HA HA! What a Joke!
Dont know who this is. Dont care. Looking for a David Mazur (PA). I am not David Mazur (female). I dont know David Mazur (PA) and I could care less - Good Luck David Mazur. I have called this phone number and several others from this 'group' in Texas asking them to make sure they remove my government desk phone number from their call/contact list over the past two (2) years as they search for Mr. Mazur (PA). They still call. They claim they are the "Financial Crimes Unit" and are out of Texas. The person I spoke to was Kenneth Curtain (Supervisor).
Please feel free to ask for him when and if you call him and lets see if we can annoy him on his phone as much as his 'people' seem to think it is OK to annoy us.
I am reporting this number to the FCC now as I am tired of trying to reason with these people.
