I get a call from 214-414-1111. She say is Google Maps Customer Service Center. She said I did not put the business address on the map, She asked me: the customer is how to know my address? Many questions
This was my first call from 214-414-1111, a Dallas number. A friendly woman asked for me by name and identified her company as "Linked Design" (or something like that) when I asked. She offered to show me a website design they had created for me (also identifying my company and the domain by name). I told her I already have experts working on my website. She offered to e-mail the mock-up to me anyway at no charge. I said she was welcome to send it, that it would be her loss, but that I have two professional software developers in the family who are collaborating on my website. Continuing to be friendly, she thanked me, I wished her well, and we ended the call.
I am 100% sure my company and contact information was harvested from my GoDaddy.com registration, which is currently public. This was definitely a telemarketer, a legitimate way of drumming up business, but we didn't venture into any direction that would help me discover whether or not it was also a scam.
And if you haven't yet figured it out, before you register a new business with your Secretary of State's office, be sure to buy/lock down your domain name(s). You definitely won't want someone trying to sell your own company's name as a domain back to you later at a high cost because they bought and parked it the minute you legally set up your company.
I just received a call from this number. I didn't answer it but after looking at this 800 notes page, I decided to call back. Someone actually answered. The person I spoke with is named Julia and she said she works for a company named LinkNow Media. This company apparently produces web pages for businesses. The reason I got the call is my phone number used to belong to some tree service business which as far as I can tell does not exist any longer. Hope this helps some of you.
