Here's the answer to all our prayers. I found this on a site I posted a telemarketer's number at. I tried it and it WORKS! I put the tones at the beginning of my phone greeting about three months ago and in the last three weeks have had "ZERO" calls. Whover posted that "THANK YOU, THANKI YOU". Here's what I found:
Telemarketers almost exclusively use autodialers to make their calls. One out of a thousand will have live reps doing the dialing. When these dialers connect (you answer the phone) they first listen for any tones generated. If no tones are detected they then transfer the call to one of the reps in a call center. If the autodialer hears the 3 beeps from dialing a "DISCONNECTED" number, the number that was just dialed is automatically "REMOVED" from their list. Below is a link that has this tone plus the verbal message. You DO NOT need the verbal message. Download or copy the "DISCONNECTED" MP3 or WAV file to your desktop. Create or change the greeting you have when someone calls you and you're not available. At the VERY BEGINNING of your message place the 3 tones (NOT THE VOICE MESSAGE) then continue with your usual or normal greeting. The autodialer will hear the tones and BINGO, your number will be removed since they think it's a disconnected number. DONE. In a few weeks you will be removed from all or most of the lists. Of course you may have to explain the tones to the callers you DO want to speak to but that's a small tradeoff. Pass this info on to anyone you know that gets junk calls or even help post this on these websites. If you continue getting calls after reading this, it's your "OWN" fault! END JUNK CALLS.
The do not call list does not cover bill collectors, they are only for telemarketers. Also, there are some glitches that the telemarketers have been able find in the do not call list and still get away with calling. But, as for bill collectors, sorry but they can still call you because they are attempting to collect a debt not sell you something. I know not fair. Because the debt collection calls have gotten so bad and they only ask for my husband and won't leave a message with me or they hang up when i answer and don't leave a message and sometimes call 4 times in an hour. I am having anxiety attacks. So, we are changing our phone number (its unlisted now but, if you give use it on any type of application it no longer is unlisted or private). And, when i feel out applications from now on I will use a fake phone #. Or not use one at all. Good luck in getting them to stop.
If you owe money, the do not call list won't help you. I believe that is only to stop you from getting unsolicited calls from salespeople. This is different. You owe them money, and they have a right to call to get it.
Yes it sucks, yes they suck more, but.....a debt is a debt.
Nobody was there. Just hung up. Happens all the time. I am going to file a complaint with the FCC. I suggest everyone do this. The more we complain to the FCC, the faster they can shunt them down.
These people are absolutely retarted!!! They call the house, then as soon as the house phone is not answered they call my husbands and then my cell(and my name isn't even on the loan!!!) Someone REALLY, REALLY, REALLY needs to sue this company for harrassment!!! I think that it would serve them right to go out of buisness!!!
