This number called ,me this afternoon. Since I work nights it woke me up. I saw that it was a number that I did NOT know so I ignored it and went back to sleep. Left a voice message. They then called back 20 minutes later. Again I ignored the call.
When I got off of work I looked up the number and found it was some collection agency. Then I listened to the voice message. A person speaking mush mouth stated the call was for a person whom I do NOT have any association with but I do know who they are AND this person was a "person of interest" in some alleged criminal matter/proceedings, something about obtaining lawyers info, mumble mumble mush mush, something about pretrial, more mumble.
I am not really sure how this company got my number and associated it with the person who they were called for.

It's a "check fraud" scam. They will go on about some bogus check you supposedly wrote that bounced and the have been hired to track you down and mediate a settlement otherwise you will be charged with a felony.. Total [***]! If you were going to be charged with felony check fraud, you would be hearing from the State police or Attorney General directly and arrested. Laugh and hang up the phone. Record them if they continue and tell them you will be the one taking them to court for harassment if they persist
Got the same call twice with different names for intended recipient and caller. The call is probably a scammer since this is the second call. I don't answer calls to my cell phone unless it's from an area in which I have contacts. The voicemail will go unanswered.
