Called at 9:38 AM while I was at work. Doubt they call again since I don't have my answering machine on and all they get is a ringing phone. Nor do I ever call back unless it's someone I know - WITH THEIR NAME. I don't answer when at home either and have the ringer turned down very low so it doesn't bother me. I refuse to let these f***tards interrupt my dinner or any of my time with their crap.
Here in Cleveland they just did a bit on the local news about this new type of scam. Seems that they are now using the Social Security Death Index to find telephone numbers of the dearly departed before the telephone companies can reassign the number. They showed a bunch of caller id's showing a woman from Kansas had been making calls from a land line to hundreds of people in Cleveland. Turns out she's been dead since January, and her number is being spoofed. The news reported let the phone company know and they've known about this for a year, according to the report. Sad how fast the creeps work against us now.
Just got a call from this number (have added it to my SPAM/SCAM spreadsheet that is now over 3 pages with 72 entries that I've googled. I had NONE of these before switching to Verizon... they sell your number to telemarketers who in turn, sell your number to anyone that will buy it and you'll never have a moment's peace from 8:am to 9:30pm at night! It's horrible and nothing stops them from continuing.
Got a call this morning in NY a little after 9 am. Caller ID read, "Unknown Name". Answering machine picked up. They hung up. Really annoying. Happens too often.
