Received a call again, this will be the 8th time dsfop has called. We made a donation last year and they won't stop calling. We made a donation to our locate police department instead this year, the man was rude and wanted to talk to my boss (who happens to be my mom), told him my boss (mom) didn't want to speak to him and he said that he didn't want to speak to me and hung up.
I just got off the phone with this guy. the caller ID showed "SW PUBLIC". He called himself "David Vance", a quick Google shows that "David Vance" is some sort of nude male model. Somehow he got the number of my new workplace and I only started working here a few weeks ago! He already called my cell but I have a app that blocks telemarketers on my droid (nice to know it's working). He wanted to collect donations for kids to supposedly go to some Christmas charity and they get a present. Anyways he wanted me to pay for 10 kids at $10/kid. He wanted me to give him my credit card over the phone so I told him I would have to think about it because I'm busy at work. He then went on to confirm my cell phone which is also a new number (how do they get this info?). Sounds like BS to me, and he was so eager to just charge me over the phone and I have 0 confirmation on whether he's legit or if I'm even paying what he says.
I received a call from this number from someone claiming to be with the Shriners. They said they were having a drive for a carnival to be held on Jan. 17. They asked for a credit card donation. I declined & was immediately suspicious. They said they would pick up a check if I would leave it under the doormat. Wondering how they knew where I lived, as they never asked, I said "yes", never intending to leave a check. I called the Shriners headquarters in Florida, as well as the Shriners in Dallas. Both said they don't hold carnivals & NOTHING was scheduled for Jan. 17. I looked on their event calendar on-line & sure enough, nothing on Jan. 17. I left a note under the doormat to see if someone came by ... they did, but didn't check in the envelope & left a receipt (filled out to some name that isn't even the person who lives at my address!) from Zakat Shriners. I have not been able to find out much about them by going on line. The Dallas Shriners gave me the number for their main call center. I called the number, & they said they had no knowledge of a carnival - no one was soliciting for such an event.
I get call after call from (214) 351-3374 They never leave a message. For 3 weeks straight they call. somestimes within minutes apart. I have the number memorized so i ignore the call. I wish they would stop.
