Received a voicemail from a man named Jackie Long from the Dallas Sheriff Fraternal Order who said that he needed to talk to me not about an official matter, but did need to talk to me. I called the above number and it just rang and rang and didn't go to voicemail.
Received a call from a man named Jackie Long from Dallas Sheriff Fraternal Order ask me for money contribution for certain cause. When I ask if would provide his physical address and information about the cause and if he would send it thru mail. Jackie Long hang up the phone. I call back the number from my caller ID 214-351-3870 and state that it is not courteous the hang up the phone on me he answer he just drop the phone
yes, even snakes can be nice over the phone to get what they want.. i bet a dollar to a donut that "Francis" is Bob Campo trying to cover his litter box.
they called my company and said to have the "owner call back that it was a CIVIL matter.. not "civic" matter.
BS. they will say anything to get a name, phone number or call back from an owner.
BEWARE! the number they call from is NOT sherriffs office but a public relations firm that uses telemarketing to get money using all kinds of dialogue.

My suggestion is you ask him who with the Sheriffs Department you can call to confirm he is with them and working on their behalf.. see how fast he hangs up.

Said the FOP chief also agrees that for soliciting funds... they are NOT to say they are with the Dallas Sheriff's office!

I just received a call back from the Sheriffs office and they said they are NOT to use the wording Sheriffs Office.. and that it is a private company that contracted with the FOP and as we all know the scam is the contracting company takes the majority of the donation for their expenses and gives very little to the actual "cause".
Beware Beware be wise and take the time to complain to make it hard on these blood suckers.
I too received a call from "Jackie Long" at the Dallas Sheriff's office. I'm based out of Washington, D.C. so I ignored the call. After a quick Google Search I found this site. Definitely a scam.
At first I was hesitant a few years ago about giving money to police fraternal organizations, however I found out the public relations firm in which Bob Campo works for is legit and has been contracted by the actual Dallas Sheriff's Fraternal Order of Police for over 15yrs. now. It is actually illegal for any member of law enforcement in the State of Texas to solicit funds or handle any monetary donations from the general public or business, thus explains the need to have outside contractors do it. Yes, there is some overhead to cover for employee's and call center, however unless it's done in this method, raising funds for the child programs would be in effect, non-existant.
