Call was from CRB Tax Software. I looked 'em up by their tel # on the 'net. Their front page reminds me of a payday loan company. I didn't take their call !!!
All they're selling is the "rapid refund" program. Bet they make a hefty fee off those refund advances.
Another source for the numbers they call is the list of PTINs they bought from the IRS. Unbelievable!!! IRS requires professional tax preparers to register and pay an annual fee (that is due right now, matter of fact), then, IRS has the gall to sell the names of the people who had to pay that fee to register. So, now, I get inundated with emails and phone calls from all of these lower tier tax prep software companies wanting to hustle me to use their software. It may not be as reliable as TurboTax Pro, or a comprehensive as CCH ProSystem.
Thanks IRS, glad you're here to "help."
