Called me and said he was from Microsoft Windows and that my computer was sending error messages back to Microsoft Windows Service Center. I could barely understand him because his accent was so thick...kept saying his name was John...he was fairly abusive telling me what I HAD to do immediately...so my computer would not crash. I asked if there was a number where I could call him back (because I suspected a scam) and the number he gave me was 1-845-859-1073 and I said that was different from his 215 area code from which he dialed me. I told him I had to go to a meeting and disconnected
Just called here. I answered tersely, and they hung-up before any verbal exchange beyond "Hello" occurred. Good thing, too. I thirst for doing battle with soulless dirtbags like this! SCAMMING call, identified above as a fake tech-support company who wishes to gain complete access to your computer to steal your passwords and financial data for identify fraud.
FYI -- any first-digit beyond the area code that starts with either 1 or 0 is a scam and faked phone number. Answer according to that knowledge and give them every amount of abuse possible!
