I received a call from this number.....it was automated and insisting that I call back immediately because I have a warrant out for my rest due to back taxes. I'm not an idiot......when warrants are issued, the person is not notified prior to pick up. Also, I am 100% certain that I do not owe back taxes; even if I did owe back taxes, I would have received several official letters before any legal action would take place.
The funny thing about all of this is that I am a teacher and I received this call at the end of my planning period. When my students (6th grade) arrived to class I told them about the phone call. I thought it was worth telling them about because I don't want them to receive a scam call like this and become fearful that it is true. I then decided to call the number so my students could hear the scam for themselves (speaker phone). Imagine our surprise when the guy who answered the call flat out admitted that he is part of a scam!!! (after I had already called him out, of course!) Things got kind of creepy when the guy became really flirtatious and we had to hang up before he said something really inappropriate. Weirdo.
Overall, it was an excellent teaching moment, the students enjoyed the lesson and they really learned something, too!
I received 2 automated calls from this number stating that the IRS has issued a warrant for my arrest and I and my property was being monitored. The call actually came in on my mobile phone not my home phone. I'm not an idiot but apparently these people are because I don't think advance notice is given prior to being picked up. Also, I believe I would have received several official letters from the IRS before any legal action would be taken.
I have repeated received this message on my cell phone: "Right now you and your physical property those are being monitored and it's very important that I hear back from you as soon as possible before we proceed further in any legal manner. My direct call back number is 215-372-0171. Again, the number is 215-372-0171.Thank you." The original call went to my voice mail that transcribed it to text as above each time. I have not replied to it and do not plan to. From all reports concerning the caller's number it appears to be a scam.
