Got a call at 5:30 p.m. and they said they were calling from AAA and wanted to know if I wanted to do an "automatic renewal" over the phone. I was busy at work so I told him it wasn't a good time. But it sounds very suspect to me since I've had AAA for years and this would be something new. And it's a Doylestown or Levittown, Pa. number -- a little odd. Will call AAA to confirm.
This was a legitimate call from AAA. I had been on automatic membership renewal, but when they went to process it, my card had just expired before the renewal date, and I had been temporarily unable to update the information on the AAA website. Although I updated--and paid--before I received the call, the caller had not received notification of the update and offered to do it over the phone. When I explained that my information and payment were not up to date, she thanked me.
Although I don't quite understand why there is a delay of several weeks between the time member accounts are updated and the information given to those making the calls, the nature of the call was relevant and appropriate, at least in my case, even if it was inefficient.
