Say that they want to send me legal papers, under a last name I have not used since 1995. Wont say what the papers are about and gave me the main office number of 1-888-399-0768 says no company name just hold for next operater, then hangs up after 10 minutes holding. The first call the lady said the company name is VV associates. I dont know but think it BS.
Man called wanting to give me a number to call and confirm my last 4 od social so I can be served papers. I told him that I'm not calling anyone and giving any personal info, not to confirm or deny, I don't know them or what this about - no way. He said he'll report me as refusing, I told him. To do whatever, not my concern.
This sounds like extortion dressed as debt collection. The agents' horrid threats are empty and their conduct is illegal. As early as possible it's critical to determine if your collector is domestic or yet another South Asian faker. The former you can sue into submission; the latter tend to be out of reach.
My notes from October 2011 on payday loan and "hot check" collectors are linked below.

someone keeps calling saying they are trying to send court papers to "Karen Parsons", ive spoken several times to them and asked to be removed from the list, this is NOT the correct name, person or number. and they get nasty with me. the number they call from is 1-216-134-5678
When I try to call back or course it won't go through. I'd like for this to stop!
