A person calling herself Tiffany Atkins, 216-282-0140, called me and said she wanted to verify the last 4 digits of my my Social Security No. Then she asked me to get a pen and paper and take down the charges filed against me by ACE Express. She said they had me on surveillance doing a transaction. She said I had been charged w/bank fraud, worthless checks, malicious intent to defraud a financial institution. She said I owed $1,008.50. I refuted the claim. I said I was going to call ACE myself and she became angry and told me not to contact them because they have obtained an attorney and will not speak to me. She said as a courtesy, they will have the amount owed dropped down to $400 and then she asked me if I was familiar with moneygram. She told me to go to Wal-Mart, but I told her was not close to one. Then she came up CVS Pharmacy and told me to go there and pick up a red phone and get a live representative and to give him my social security no. as my account no. She said to send the moneygram to WCCI. Gave me a rec. code #7645 and said it was going to Jacksonville, Fl. Said she was going to wait until transaction was complete and she would give me a a ref. no. whereby I could ck. the completion of transaction. She warned me that officials are really coming down hard on those that don't cooperate. I later found out she had also called my mother and it completely upset her.
I got a call from her as well.....if you don't write checks, she may not be looking for you but may be looking for a neighbor. My guess it it's collections prior to prosecution. If they can prosecute someone for writing bad or fraudulent checks (a felony) they will eventually; however, it is easier on everyone and less expensive if the person can be motivated to pay instead. Maybe when you USED to write checks one of them went sour. Better call and see if they are looking for you or someone in your vicinity.
Same call from Tiffany Atkins. Also spoke with Chase and Jessica. Refused to give me the company name. Threatened prosecution but wouldn't give me any information about the alleged debt. Clearly a scam.
Tiffany Atkins, just in case you or your bosses didn't know, its a federal crime to call people pertaining to be an employee of the State of Ohio, or any other federal agency, for that fact. Learn the law before you get wrangled by the law you're trying to portray. Any state agency would give their department name no matter to whom they are speaking with, for if you call a relative or friend of said persons, the receiver should given the courtesy instead of being treated without respect.
Learn how to be courteous and professional, and I can assure you, the results to your quests will amount to greater returns. So, since you decided to be disrespectful and classless during our phone conversation, Miss Tiffany Atkins, I won't be passing along your call or the message pertaining to it.
Tough luck. Obviously you don't know the law nor do you know your trade in a manner that's beneficial to your overall business' success. Threatening people and acting with an arrogant demeanor isn't good for business, hopefully I'm not the first person to relay this vital information upon your adolescent eyes.
