I got a call from +1 216-558-5978, normally I wouldn't answer but for some reason I did. The guy on the other end told me he was a Microsoft consultant and he was calling me to alert me that my computer, laptop, or tablet was sending out error codes and I had been hacked. He told me to get on my device and he'd walk me through securing my system. I asked him if people actually fell for this. He said this was a matter of national security. I laughed and he told me "you are a [***] moron" and "I hope you get gang raped and eaten by a pack of wild dogs". I hung up.
It is a scam. Says he is "network security" and wanted me to log into some shady website on my computer to "fix" my network. Whatever you do, DO NOT do anything they ask you to
Same scam here...."Micro Tech Support"....claims MY computer contacted them, and gave a report of a network security problem. I asked him for my IP address and he gave a bogus ID. Then I asked him for his phone and he gave a different number than the caller ID gave: (888) 295-0496
