Received a call from (217) 679-4875...they asked for Lawrence instead of Lori, so I told him there was no one at my number with that name so he hung up. Caller ID said the number was from Springfield IL, but the background sounded like a huge call center and the caller had a foreign accent.
Called my cell and in a really weird voice (maybe foreign) asked to speak with me and badly mispronounced my name. My name is not hard to pronounce. He almost sounded like a computer. I just hung up.
Didn't answer, having recognized the last 4 #s, which have shown up repeatedly in past weeks as coming from varying area code/prefixes and even in variations of 800 #s.
Showed as being from "KELLI SPELL" this time.
This number has called several times, both our land line and my cell phone. Finally, I answered but didn't say anything like they don't. They hung up fairly quickly.
Maybe it'll get them to stop calling. I can waste their time just like they can mine.
Woman from "vehicle processing department" is doing a "standard warranty checkup." She knew the model and make of our car. Asked if we still have car, what mileage is. Hung up when I insisted to know the name and address of her company. Probably an auto warranty scam like this - http://www.fcc.gov/guides/auto-warranty-scams
Rec called from 217-679-4875 very forign speaking person knew all the info about our car year and model. Wanted to speak to my husband and when I told them we were on a do not call list they hung up. If I had been an older person I am sure info would have been obtained and scamed for sure.Sad times we live in .
