Call came in "Out of Area." Person said, (with heavy accent) that this call was about my computer. I said, "No, it's not about my computer, it's about lies, deceit, and fraud." And he hung up!
Someone called from "Microsoft Windows" and asked for my husband by his first name. I said my husband was at work. The caller wanted to discuss my Microsoft computer. I said, "Which one? We have five." He then rattled off some numbers and said when we registered the computer, blah, blah, blah. I said, "This is a scam, go away and take me off your list," then hung up. The person immediately called me up and said, "This is not a scam, and continued to spew out very technical sounding gibberish with such a heavy accent it was hard to follow what he was saying. All I had to do was sit in front of my computer and he would guide me. I said, "I do not know who you are and I do not take instructions over the phone from a stranger. If Microsoft wants me they have my email address. Go away!"
This caller said he was from "Windows". He said my computer had been "infected with bad stuff from visiting websites and social media networks" and was not receiving necessary Windows software upgrades. He wanted to direct me on how to make my computer available to receive these upgrades. I asked him why Microsoft wasn't disseminating this necessary information. He said he wasn't from Microsoft, he was from Windows. I said that was very concerning to me, he said, "F*** off, f*** off, f*** off, f*** off, f*** off...." I hung up.
